What is a mentor?
A mentor is a person who can support, advise and guide you. They typically take the time to get to know you and the challenges you’re facing and then use their understanding and personal experience to help you improve.
"I would describe this mentorship program like one of those “you decide how the story goes” books that you used to be able to find. Remember those? Not a “how to” guide, but the type of story where the author (mentor - in this case Marty) creates the outline/general theme of the story using a foundation of basic horsemanship. But the reader (participant) gets to decide where they want to take the story to make it their own. The author (mentor) provides a solid framework as it goes along so that the story progresses and makes sense, but the reader (participant) is the one taking the story the direction he/she wants it to go. Which is WAY more fun then a boring old “how to” guide, and it opens up soooo many more possibilities for the horse and rider".
